On June 19th 2021, Madison Heights Citizens United along with the Human Resources and Equity Commission held our first ever celebration commemorating Juneteenth at Civic Center Park. The park was renamed to Emancipation Park for the event by the City Council.
The city’s first-ever Juneteenth Celebration, was self-funded entirely through charitable donations and received coverage in several local news outlets and publications.
